What I Want to Read in February

What even is a TBR? I’m saying this because it’s the second week of February and I haven’t gotten one. I started thinking of listing out a TBR as I usually do for myself every month but the stress of school’s been getting to me. I’m a hard core mood reader so I pick up books on how I’m feeling. Usually thought, I’m able to set up a TBR and stick to it mostly, but this month is not going to be one of those months. I’ve been ridiculously overwhelmed with school so I’m going to pick up whatever books calls out to me.

For example, I’ve set out February for reading all the romance books. I’ve even made a ThriftBooks order but now that they’re here, I don’t want to read romance. I don’t even know what I want to read because all that’s on my mind is how much I want all these projects, tests, and deadlines to just disappear.

So instead of a TBR for this month, I’m going to talk about some books that have been on my mind that I’m really leaning towards picking up. Will I actually get to them? Who knows? Because I definitely don’t, haha.

Royals

I’ve recently heard the synopsis for this book in a book haul on YouTube and oh my gosh. This book’s plot has me so excited to start reading again. I don’t know why I’ve said that like I haven’t recently been reading, I just finished a book two days ago. I think the stress from this past weekend of endless school work has gotten me to real bad and I’ve been itching to pick up a book that’s just going to make me happy. I’m hoping this book will do it, because from the vibes I’m getting from it, I’m expecting some royal drama, angsty romance, and a heck a lot of fun!

The Afterlife of Holly Chase

I’m aware it’s nowhere Christmas but I saw this book in my library and it called out to me guys. I’ve heard how much everyone loves this book and I love nothing more than finding myself a good stand alone to pick up to add to my favorites. I think the whole concept of this after life program is so interesting and how there’s this whole community of Scrooges. I’ve recently been introduced to reading from unlikeable characters or characters I simply can’t relate to. With a good writing style and a unique plot, I sometimes find myself becoming more emotionally attached to the plot whenever there’s an unlikeable character involved, whether I like it or not. I’m sure that a book based on a society of Scrooges is the perfect place I can find myself an unlikeable character.

Love, Lies, and Spies

Every month, I have a slow read. A slow read is what I like to call my back burner book that I pick up now and then while I’m reading other books. Love, Lies, and Spies, was my guilty pleasure buy to reward my trashy romantic side this month. The plot of this book, to me, is so ridiculously hilarious that I’m hoping to have a lot of fun with it. To keep it short and simple, one of our main character is a clumsy young woman who wants nothing but to publish her research on ladybugs and will do anything to not get married. Our second main character is a secret war agent who shockingly, has a very similar interest in not getting tied into a marriage. Of course, common sense leads us to the fact that these very two characters, who want nothing to do with marriage, make a deal to “pretend” to court each other, so they can set aside the problem of marriage talk and pursue their very different interests. I’m sold.
