A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Have you ever read the premise of a book or heard people talking about it and just get a weirdly specific vibe/aesthetic from it? I’m a very strong mood reader so whenever I read a premise of a book or hear about it from someone, I start to picture how it might

be and how I’d feel reading it. Whenever I think of this book, I picture this dark and slow moving plot with a beautiful university setting and a bunch of people drinking coffee and sifting through textbooks in a dramatic, posh manner. I feel like this book is the equivalent of a dark yet cozy Netflix show that people ending up binging in one go. I’ll let you know how accurate I am because I’m pretty sure I’m going to pick this book up pretty soon. Also, this book doesn’t only have a university setting but also a professor who’s a vampire? That’s all I need to know, because the middle school/high school Twi-hard in me is sold.

Love, Lies, and Spies by Cindy Anstey

This was one of my guilty pleasure buys as it was only three dollars and the title called out to the part of me that wanted a good trashy romance. I already mentioned this in my February TBR but to give you a brief insight into this hilarious and very entertaining premise, this story centers around a ladybug researcher and a war spy faking a courtship to avoid marriage and then inevitably falling in love. Sadly, I’m out of that trashy romance phase but I’m sure I’m going to pick it up soon when I need a pick me up read.

The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff

I’ve been trying to reach out to more books that aren’t necessarily YA. I’ve recently gotten into some thrillers but saw this on sale at Target. From what I gathered from the description on the book, this a historical fiction novel based on some true events involving a group of women who mysteriously disappeared. Not just any women but a group of women who fought in the war and I think participated in some covert operations? From all the historical fiction I’ve read that’s centered around World War 2, I’ve never encountered a plot that involves a group of women who actively fought in the war. Also, I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that so many women who were fighting in the war just went missing and how I’ve never heard of anything about it before.
