July Wrap Up & August TBR

The time has come to say Hello August, Goodbye July.

July honestly was the month of stress procrastinating. You know when everything starts to pile up and you’re running out of time but you just stand there staring at your giant to do list and are too scared to do anything? That’s been me the past 31 days and my oh my, I need to get a move on. September is the start of something new for me and I need to start studying and preparing for moving – aka it’s time to get my life together because there’s no more time left.

I also emptied out my uni apartment in July. We drove up in what probably was a tropical storm. It was so crazy and terrifying. There were moments on our drive where we were driving with zero visibility. Everything around was absolutely white with high winds and gusts of rain. Oh, and of course car shaking thunder and lightning as well.

Towards the last few days of the month, when I felt stressed out to the max, I discovered the joy of rereading. I know that some people reread to give some extra loving to their favorite books or to give a book a second chance. For me, my discovery of what will probably be a long streak of rereading isn’t for those reasons – it’s because I have the memory of an actual goldfish. I remember nothing from some books that I’ve read, even if I really enjoyed it. I picked up “Evvie Drake Starts Over” by Linda Holmes recently because I remember that I really enjoyed it last summer but remember absolutely nothing else. I guess this’ll be good for me and maybe (key word maybe) help me reduce the amount of books I buy – not that I buy many.

I listened to some good music this month.

I have many new musical favorites. I rediscovered some music I used to listen to in my early years of high school but also deep dived into other albums of artists I love.

I’m keeping my August TBR as small as possible.

Why? Because this month is going to be super busy and I’m also going to have to do a lot of studying related reading, so I don’t know how much  fun reading I’ll be able to get done. I also tend to mood read when I’m stressed out and I have a feeling that there’ll be a lot of mood reading in the coming weeks. I’m hoping that with a two book tbr, I’ll have the flexibility to o pick up books at random from my shelves and give them a go!

The books I want to get to this month include: The Last Namsara, The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet, and finish Pride and Prejudice.

I recently went on my libby app recently (an app that connects to your library and gives you access to ebooks and audiobooks) and have seen that many of Erik Larson’s books are available to borrow. I know he dwells into historical fiction/nonfiction type of books and I’m quite interested in something nice, slow, and dramatic so I’m also thinking of picking one of his books up.
