2022 Anticipated Reads

I’m not one for anticipated reads because the way I’ve been finding books has started to change. It’s less intentional as it used to be and I’ve been picking up what I feel like when I want to. I also haven’t been reading many series that are still in the process of pumping out books on an annual basis. I also feel like my reading tastes have drastically changed so I don’t exactly know what I want to read.

So here’s my tiny list of my most anticipated 2022 releases!

A Very Merry Bromance – Lyssa Kay Adams

Release Date: Unannounced, Fall

goodreads summary

I have no idea what any of the details on this book’s release is or it’s premise. I believe it’s about Colton and that’s all I need to know. Lyssa Kay Adams has become an autobuy/autoread author for me. Her books are funny, wholesome, and feature so many different romance tropes. I’m particularly excited about the “Merry” part of this title because what better way to cozy up in the holiday season than with a Bromance Book Club book!

Book of Night – Holly Black

Release Date: May 3rd, 2022

goodreads summary

Words from the synopsis that intrigue me: con artist, dangerous underground world, maelstrom of secrets and murder

Now a days, book titles have gained popularity and are the number one marketing tactic. The cooler the book cover looks, the higher the probability it’s going to do better once released. I personally feel like book titles aren’t the first thing that people look at anymore when shopping or searching for books.

This book though, has a title that sounds absolutely delightful. The Book of Night, sounds so ominous. The number one thing that makes me excited for this book is that it’s an adult book written by Holly Black. I absolutely love her Cruel Prince series. I still stand by the fact that “The Wicked King” is one of the best sequels I’ve ever read. I don’t remember much of what I read I unless I really loved it and I can’t get over how action packed and angst filled “The Wicked King” was. I think that by moving past the YA age restricted boundary, Holly Black can unleash her true potential in writing something even more dark, twisted, and gripping.

The Inadequate Heir – Danielle L. Jensen

Release Date: May 2022

goodreads summary

This is one of my all time favorite series, right up next to the “Six of Crows” duology. I’ve talked about these books many times on my blog but if you haven’t heard about this series, they’re a fantasy/fantasy romance series. I never know how to categorize the books in this series because while they are steamy and follow two characters and their romance, they’re also so much more than just romance books. The atmospheric world building and politics in this series are almost tangible. Honestly, the politics in this book make the story so intense that you literally have no choice but to read the book from start to finish non-stop.

I believe the author has made an announcement that there’s definitely going to be four books published in this world but I’m hoping that there’s going to be six. The interesting the author does with this series is that while they all take place in the same world, they’re more of a collection of duologies. The first two books in the series follow two characters, their romance, and whatever political happenings occurred during their timeline. The second two books are going to be following a new set of characters and their romance immediately after the incidents of the previous duology.

So reading the books in order is definitley a necessity but the storyline for the set of characters technically ends within two books.

The third book, “The Inadequate Heir” got published last year on audiobook and the print edition is to come out sometime, mid this year. I know I could have gotten the audiobook when it got released last year but there’s just something so exciting to have the book in my hands. I have too many found memories of reading this book and staying up way too late in the night and I want to have that same experience with this one. I also want to build my Danielle L. Jensen c collection because this series means the absolute world to me.
