It’s the last full week of May and I’m in the middle of so many books. If you read my weekly wrap up #2, you’ll know that I’ve been a bit slumpy with my reading. I’m hoping to fix that this week and knock off some of the books that I’ve started and left unfinished.
This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub
This book is a light fun read. I was expecting for it to be a lot more fast paced and sad in tone but it’s not at all what I was expecting. It’s somewhat of a more slow moving book that’s emotionally heavy in a way that I didn’t expect for it to be. It’s the kind of book that you can languish in and really think about the whole concept of time, the meaning of life, and the moments you have with your loved ones. I don’t want to drag this book out till next month because I feel like the more time I take to read it, the less of an impact it’ll have on me.
Left on Tenth: A Second Chance at Life by Delia Ephron
This is a memoir that’s really well written. It’s also a fast read but it deals with quite heavy topics such as grief, loss, and cancer. So please take note of trigger warnings before going into this book. While this book is talking about life post grief, loss, and cancer, it also is sweet and hopeful in a way you wouldn’t think of. Ephron finds love, later in her life, that she never thought she’d find. She has a community of friends and a city that back her and support her through some of the toughest moments of her life.
Winter in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand
This is a book I never thought I’d read. I’m about a 100 pages into this and when I tell you it’s a fast read, I mean it’s a fast read. It reads like a lifetime/hallmark movie and it’s the first book in a trilogy which I’m struggling to see how it can be. So far, the plot’s pretty predictable and nothing shocking has yet to happen. This is a very hyped author so I really want to finish this book in May to find out what the hype’s all about. I’m expecting a big twist and I better get it lol.
The Maid by Nita Prose
I’m about 50 pages into this book. I started it a few days ago and honestly, I already love this book. It’s been so long since I started a book and fell in love with the writing, the characters, and plot within the first 10 pages. And that to, it’s a thriller/mystery book! I’m so excited to read this book. If I don’t get to any of the books in this list, I’d be fine as long as I read this one. I also want to finish this book this month because I’ve been accumulating so many thrillers/mystery/true crime books and I haven’t been in the mood for them. I’m hoping that by loving this book, I’ll be more keen to pick up more books in its genre.
Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman
This is the May “Bad on Paper” bookclub pick and I absolutely love this podcast so I’m hoping to get to this book. Also, I heard this book is based on a real life interview with Chris Evans and need I say more?
