Selena Trevino
I got into a bit of a YouTube slump and stumbled upon Selena’s videos. I found her videos at the right time because I honestly was getting desperate for finding some life motivation and what better way than watching someone get productive? I love her 9-5 work day vlogs and often have one of her videos on the background as I do my own work. I love how her videos are a perfect combination of productivity, mental health take, body positivity, and self-care.
Dobochobo
I’m so happy I found Deborah’s channel. While I love the productivity aspect of Selena’s videos, I love how cozy Deborah’s vlogs are. I’m not going to lie, they also make me feel a bit old. There’s something a bit sweet, nostalgic, and bittersweet about watching someone start new adulthood and enter their freshman year of college or university and navigate post high school life. I can remember that feeling of moving into my first dorm and my first summer away from home and living alone for the first time. Gosh, I’m tearing up lol. Those were the good days. Watching people in college is a bit bittersweet because I had great plans of making my senior year of college amazingly memorable and then Covid happened. So watching people live their best lives in college makes me a bit sad that I didn’t get to end college on my terms. In conclusion, I’m reliving my college life with Deborah and I couldn’t be happier lol.
Reading Sprints
Ever since September rolled around and the nights have been coming in earlier, I’ve been really enjoying cozying up in bed with a book. My busy brain though freaks out at complete silence so I’ve been revisiting this “Read With Me” video Gavin posted with Lexi, Liv, and Kalyn. It’s an old one but he’s got a fireplace ASMR video that plays during the reading sprint portion of the video and the noise is just quiet enough for me to really get into my book and zone out.
Morbid Podcast
I can’t believe my true crime loving self didn’t find this podcast sooner. First of all, I love the dynamic between the two hosts of this show. It helps that they’re related and are also best friends. The episodes are really long and full of research so if you’re wanting to learn something, this is the place to go. But if you don’t want an info dump and want to feel like you’re hanging out with friends who laugh over silly things and make things weird enough that you feel like you’re home, then this is the podcast for you. It’s respectful, research focused, and a weird yet comforting community. They do a ton of true crime episodes but recently have gotten into paranormal stuff as well as a couple of episodes about cryptids. The most interesting episodes have to be “Listener Tales”. I think they have them come out once a week now. “Listener Tales” are episodes featuring listener stories of their close encounters with true crime or paranormal stuff and things get scary.
The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street
This is the coziest book I’ve read in a while. I always say books find you at the right time and this one did and boy am I glad that it’s a series. After I finished the book, the first in the series, I knew that every time I’m feeling down and in my feels, I need to pick up another Vanderbeeker book because they’re just so heartwarming. I feel like I’ve talked about this book a ton so I won’t go into too much detail. This series follows a group of siblings who live in Brooklyn. The first book is about the siblings fighting to keep their apartment when they find out their grumpy landlord who lives upstairs is planning to kick them out after Christmas. If you’re looking for a book full of people who have nothing but love for one another, pick up this book. You can check out my full review here.
