February Wrap Up

I read four books in February and here they are tier ranked from least favorite to my favorite read of the month.

#4 The Lady Tempts an Heir

goodreads summary

Honestly, it was kind of hard debating whether “Lady Tempts an Heir” or “A Court of Silver Flames” deserves the bottom of the ranking. Objectively, they both weren’t bad but ironically, they were both the last books of a favorite series that just didn’t do it for me. I think this one ranked the bottom for me because while it was a nice easy read, the other books in the series were just so much better. I also didn’t really like how insta-lovey the romance felt in this book. I liked the idea of a Gilded Age romance between an American Heir and a British Lady but there just wasn’t anything amazing about it. I still liked reading the book and am glad I read the series but in terms of the other books I read in February, this one’s going to have to go to the bottom.

#3 A Court of Silver Flames

goodreads summary

This was my least favorite book of the series which is sad because I was really looking forward to reading it. I’m going to work on a full length review on this so I’ll keep it short. The reason why this is ranked towards the bottom is because the beginning was slow and repetitive and the ending wrapped up too nicely and I wanted more from the romance. But at the same time, I loved how SJM started off the story slow because it really painted this picture of Nesta struggling with the trauma she’s always tried to suppress and I liked how the ending hinted at something more. Clearly, I’m feeling a bit mixed by my reading experience of this one lol.

#2 A Court of Wings and Ruin

goodreads summary

The war, the politics, SJM knows how to do it right. I loved reading more about Amren and learning who she is. I also loved how much more involved Feyre’s sisters were in this book. Nesta of course is a favorite and all of her scenes were so gripping. This was just a really big, plot heavy book centered around an epic war and the sacrifices and trauma our main characters had to endure for the benefit of their kingdoms. “A Court of Mist and Fury” scratched the top of the political drama of the faerie world and “A Court of Wings and Ruin” drowned readers into the true chaos of it all.

#1 Daisy Jones and the Six

goodreads summary

I’m honestly pretty shocked that this got the top tier ranking for February. Okay, maybe I’m not. I read this book, a long time ago and at the time I didn’t like it. But with the show coming out in March, I wanted to reread this one and I knew that deep down, I was going to love it. And guess what, I did. A couple of years older, I saw myself in many characters and themes of this book I just couldn’t back then. I think the older you get, the more you’re exposed to the way the world moves and works in this beautiful yet chaotic way where characters like Billy, Daisy, and Camilla can create and produce so much but also drown and struggle just as hard. All of these characters, even Eddie, are going to stick with me for a long time.
