Weekly Wrap Up #8

Here are some highs from the past few days:

What I Read

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by by Author

goodreads summary

The actual story of this book is as gorgeous as the cover. Honestly, I think this is the most beautiful book I’ve seen in a long time and trust me, I’ve seen a ton of books in person lol. This book is a coming of age story of two friends who grow close together playing games and then grow up to making games themselves. Be aware of trigger warnings for this one because this book does discuss some dark topics at times: emotional abuse, domestic violence, anti-Semitism, anti-Asian racism, violent homophobia, mass gun violence/shooting, referenced abortion, post-partum depression, cancer, loss of loves ones, and grief. Honestly, this is an all time new favorite book. It’s one I know that I’m going to revisit constantly and dissect. I’ll definitely be putting out a very big review on this soon that’ll go into far more detail but all I can see right now, three hours after finishing this book is that it’s beautiful and nothing like I’ve read before.

What I Watched

DB Cooper Where Are You? [Netflix Docuseries]

This was a fun docuseries. I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t know about D.B Cooper. This may be weird to say, but I loved the editing of the intro and outro for this series, it was so fun and matched the theme of the whole D.B Cooper mystery perfectly. This docuseries was about the mystery behind D.B Cooper but it was more so about investigative journalism. I learned a lot about this case but also how journalists and different crime hunting groups tackle cases like this. It was very eye opening.

The Butcher of Delhi [Netflix Docuseries]

This was an okay docuseries. It was pretty short, it only had three episodes. This crime docuseries follows a serial killer in India who murdered a string of people and left their bodies in front of a prison. He went on killing for years, taunting the police. I can tell that a lot of money went into the production of this docuseries bc there were a ton of scenes in the episodes where we got to see an actor play out the murders in a very high production style type of way –> very bloody, horrifying, and visually gripping. I wish that the money instead was spent diving into the cases more. I felt like it glorified a ton of violence and didn’t have enough of the investigation or the background information on the victims or the murderer to balance it out.

The Gray Man [Netflix Movie]

The Gray Man: Like many people around the world, I did take part in the watching of Netflix’s latest endeavor in launching a new movie franchise. “The Gray Man” is actually the first part of a very long series written by Mark Greaney. It’s centered around a CIA agent who’s basically a hired assassin working for the government. This movie was a pure action movie so if you don’t like movies that are just about action, maybe steer clear of this one. Me on the other hand, love action movies. I’m honestly still trying to figure out how I feel about this movie. It was definitely entertaining but I think the main thing that has me on the fence of whether I liked it or liked it is Ryan Gosling’s acting. His acting in the fighting scenes weren’t the best. But all in all, a really fun weekend movie!

TBR Additions

These are not books that I’ve hauled but books that I’ve heard about and have added to my TBR list:
