Hello Goodbye – A Reflection and Review

Happy New Year!

2019 is finally here and I’m not sure I’m ready for these next 365 days. Next year, 2020, is the year I have to figure myself out by. All those existential questions no one really knows the answers to must be semi-answered in these next year and a half because I’m set to graduate university in 2020.

If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, I’ve been on a cruise for a week where there’s  absolutely no internet unless you pay a ridiculously large amount of money. I’m not that desperate for wi-fi, haha. On the last two days of my trip, I got very badly sick and came down with Laryngitis and Bronchitis. I highly don’t recommend that duo. After going to the ENT, yesterday, I found out I’ve also got really bad sinus infections.

Basically, I have been too sick and too busy sleeping to do any reading or anything else.

Now that’s school’s starting and everyone’s going to be back and it this coming Monday, I thought I’d take some time to reflect on 2018 and talk a little a bit about what I’m hoping to do in 2019.

2018’s been real nice to me by reintroducing me to my love of reading. I don’t remember reading this much since I was in middle school where I used to read a book a day. 2018’s rekindled my love for books and it’s given me a new home to come to after a long day of studying. It’s been the little something to keep me going. I’ve also been collecting books. I love thrifting for books and buying a nice book for a really cheep price. One day, when I buy/rent my first house, my first furniture purchase will be a bookshelf. My first completely independent purchase will be a bookshelf.

I’ve discovered one of my favorite series in 2018. The Six of Crows Duology gives me hope that young adult is going in the right direction and I can’t wait to go back to my apartment so I can pick up my copy and start re-reading it.

In 2019, I hope that my fire to read continues and I get to read more books that I’ll not want to stop talking about. For The Fiction Giant, I hope that I can publish content at least once a week or every other week. I want to challenge myself creatively in 2019, whether it is to blog more or journal more. No matter what your profession is, creativity is a must. It provides an outlet for self-examination and expression of thought that people don’t normally express in every day life.

So welcome to 2019 with me.

I wish you all happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
