If you’re not a true crime enthusiast, feel free to read through this list because there’s a couple in here that have absolutely nothing with murder or anything like that. If you are a true crime enthusiast, then also feel free to read through this list because there’s definitely a couple of true crime cases that sound interesting.
In other words, there’s a little bit of something for everyone.
Length: 5 episodes
Was Florence Cassez the mastermind of a kidnapping ring? Or a victim of corruption? This documentary examines one of Mexico’s most controversial cases.
I’ve been recently getting into watching true crime documentaries that don’t follow crimes that occurred in America. I’ve recently scene a docuseries about a slew of murders that occurred in South Korea and found it to be very captivating. I like seeing the differences in investigations and general government protocol and how culture affects both the investigation of the criminal and the victims. I’m really interested in watching this one next as it’s set. in Mexico.
Length: 2 Seasons, 10 episodes each (20 total episodes)
Filmed over 13 years, this real-life thriller follows the unprecedented story of two men accused of a grisly crime they may not have committed.
One of the last true crime docuseries that had me at the edge of my seat was INSERT. This docuseries followed two different cases led by the same investigators that were tainted with false confessions. It was crazy how four men, accused of crimes they didn’t commit were imprisoned for so long until evidence and technology such as DNA analysis exonerated them. IT makes you wonder how many people are in. jail who shouldn’t be. I have yet to watch this docuseries so I don’t know if the accused people are a bit sketchy or what but I’m hooked onto the investigation from the mere fact that it’s been filmed over 13 years.

In the 1970’s and ’80s, friends Willy Falcon and Sal Magluta leave humble beginnings behind as they allegedly ascend to the top of Miami’s drug trade.
Listen, the trailer for this show grabbed me. I haven’t watched many documentaries about the drug trade or addiction so I’m curious to see what this documentary has in store for me. Also, I’m really excited to see Miami in the 70’s and 80’s as I’m from South Florida.
Length: 1hr 46 min
Bad disguises, Fake heart attacks. And a presidential run. Go inside tech pioneer John McAfee’s chaotic final years on the run in this wild documentary.
I’m not going to lie, I honestly have forgotten about McAfee. Growing up, his name was a household staple because every computer and Best Buy made sure you knew his name. When I saw the trailer for this docuseries, I saw the title, “Running With The Devil” and thought that it was about a serial killer or something but the moment I heard it was about John McAfee, I knew I had to watch it. While discussing this documentary’s release with my friends, I learned that John McAfee had a lot going on with his life and really toyed with the line of danger. There were mentions of private islands, government conflicts, murder or accusations of murder or some form of murder he found himself involved in. The details are vague but what little I grasped from others about this modern era tycoon, I knew I had to watch it because however little truthful these rumors are, they’re pretty wild and outlandish for a man who runs a security based company to be involved with.

Woodstock 1969 promised peace and music, but its ’99 revival delivered days of rage, riots and real harm. Why did it go so horribly wrong?
I know that there are a ton of docuseries and such about music festivals because they always seem to come with a crazy dose of drama and scandal but I never really gotten into this subgenre of documentaries. I just read a couple of articles here and there about them and move on. This trailer though caught my attention. If you can’t tell, I’m a huge history fanatic and I think that it’s going to be really interesting to see the festival in 1969 and the type of world it was when the festival first occurred to when it was revived in 1999. A lot can change in 30 years and I’m curious to see how music changed and the enjoyment of music changed with time.
Length: 4 Episodes
United under plural marriage and strict ideology, members expose the dark secrets of a notorious polygamist sect that tore their families apart.
Half the reason I’ve added this docuseries to my watch list is because of the title. It feels very ominous and creepy so I guess we’ll find out if the contents of the show match up to the title. If we look at my reading, the one genre that I read the least is thrillers, especially domestic thrillers. I just don’t vibe with them, I’m not sure why but I don’t. This docuseries gives off a domestic thriller sort of vibe and is one of the main reasons I’ve been putting off this series. Rewatching the trailer though definitely peaked my interest again so I think that I’m going to watch this one soon.

Fearless Nepali mountaineer Nimsdal Purja embarks on a seemingly impossible quest to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000 -meter peaks in seven months.
I don’t know why or how but I stumbled across a whole genre of nature docuseries and documentaries and this one seems so visually captivating. Mountain climbing is such an intense sport and activity. It really tests the human body and mind to an extreme that can either build you up or tear you down. I feel like mountain climbers experience life at a greater intensity than normal people do because they see the world at its worst and best and they feel it with their whole body.

Conspiracy. Fraud. Violence. Murder. What starts out virtual can get real all too quickly – and when the web is worldwide, so are the consequences.
This isn’t exactly on my most anticipated watches but we all know that the internet can be a pretty wild and play host to some truly terrifying people and stuff. Take for example that docuseries, “Don’t F*ck With Cats”. The criminal explored in this docuseries launched his criminal career to gain internet and media notoriety. I can bet you my left toe that within the years or even months after that documentary aired, the internet has grown tremendously in size as well as the darkness that can come out of it. When things are left unchecked, uncontrolled, and unpredictable, it quickly becomes home to crime, violence, and other kinds of horror.
Length: 1hr 32 min
Bold but reclusive, solo alpine climber Marc-Andre’ Leclerc becomes a reluctant hero by scaling the most forbidding, frozen heights in the world.
Again, we’re back to nature documentaries. Another reason I ended up adding this to my watch list is because I’m uneducated on the differences between alpine climbers and mountaineers. I’m curious to observe the differences in methodology between the case studies of these two different climbing documentaries I’ve added to my list.

Determined to remove her daughter’s photos from a revenge porn website, a persistent mother launches an online crusade to shut down its cruel founder.
I mean with a title like this, how can anyone not add this to their watch list? When I first saw this documentary title, I assumed it was a con man type of documentary. I just came off of a marathon of watching con men related documentaries so this wasn’t much of a priority but when I read the summary of it for this post, I got hooked. I had no idea it was about a person involved with a revenge porn website. This is definitely high up on my watch list.
