Weekly Wrap Up #2

Weekly Catch Up

This week was an emotional roller coaster. 2023 is continuing to be a bit too spicy for me (a South Asian who loves her spice) and I spent the first week in emotional turmoil lol. I’m good now because what I did to calm my sleepless nights and anxiety is to get my hands on all the colorful things. Please get ready for an incoming haul because…um I splurged. The second half of the week though, I really focused in on changing my mentality and how I was processing everything that was happening around me. Sometimes, it takes a bit more effort to remind yourself that it’s okay to be a bit selfish and that self-preservation is important. I wrapped up the work week by ticking off some big to-do’s and settled into a nice weekend of icing my still sprained knee that’s gotten worse from all the walking I’ve been doing and starting a new series.

Things That I’m Grateful For:

What I’ve Watched

This documentary was absolutely wild. I knew nothing going into it and honestly, I think that’s the way to go. As much as it was a true crime case, the main thing I took away from this documentary is the affect of the media. This documentary didn’t explore the way media traditionally gets in the way of criminal investigation but rather how the media quickly latches onto a person of interest. As we dive deeper into who this Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker is and how he rose to fame, the more and more we look at the journalist and reality TV show producers a bit differently at how quick they were to jump on people of interest for views and stories rather than doing research ahead of time. The documentary highlights how fast the information world is and how quick people need to grasp onto what’s hot to make a profit in this world and how sometimes that comes at a cost. I also found it very interesting and gripping how unreliable everyone was in this documentary.

What I’ve Read

Yes… it took me many years but I finally started this series. This week was tough lol and I knew that when the weekend rolled around, I wanted nothing more than to completely lose myself in a world that’s very much not my own. Also, I want on a spending spree this week and got my hands on everything and I mean everything I found colorful and pretty. And the new covers for this series have been taunting me and look at the covers, look at the spines! On the actual content of the books… I’m loving it. I don’t think that this series is meant to be considered a cozy fantasy, it’s definitely not lol, but everything is so atmospheric and visually gripping that I’m literally sucked into the world and for me, that’s cozy.
