Welcome to February! It’s a bit late but it’s time to set my intention for this month. I’ve been holding off on writing this because the end of January and the beginning of February was a bit murky and I wanted to get out of my mental headspace before I sat down and really planned out what I wanted to accomplish this month.
Obvious contenders were self-love, self-care, love, anything in that realm. I kept trying to brainstorm intentions that would thematically suit February and I realized that while I probably should have self-love as my intention, I didn’t have the energy for it after the end of January.
Burnout and general life stuff led me to go with “slow” instead.
In February, I want to take things in slowly and live each and every day intentionally while giving myself grace.
Take for example, the past weekend, I spent the weekend reading and managed to read two books! I watched this show that had my heart pumping so fast and had me literally sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time. In the end of January, I was juggling so many emotions and actual tasks/projects simultaneously to the point that it led me to feeling burnout.
So “slow” it’s going to be.
One way I’m planning to incorporate this intention into my month is by picking up a classic, a book I know that I won’t go into the mindset of reading fast to move onto the next book. I’m not a classic reader and the last classic I read, “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, was two years ago. I decided to follow through with the Jane Austen train and pick up “Emma”.
I don’t know much about Emma other than critics say it isn’t that fast paced and it’s more mundane than her other works. Which is perfect for me because slow and mundane literature is exactly what I’m looking for.
I’ve decided to watch at least two movies this months that have been on my to watch list for far too long. I’m more of a TV show watcher because I feel like it requires less focus and attention than a movie.
What’s your intention for the month? And if you have any comfort movie recommendations, please leave them in the comments!
my main intention this month is focusing on spending more of my time intentionally instead of doing mindless scrolling on social media! and it’s been working well enough these past 11 days :”) comfort movies i recommend are spirited away, whisper of the heart, and princess mononoke!
Ooh, thank you for the recommendations, I’ll definitely check them out!
